These numbers add up quickly and will affect not only landlords but many student tenants. New Britain is also levying fines against landlords for tenant caused blight in addition to charging a $500 per call fine on 911 Emergency calls exceeding a limit of just a few calls per year, per property.

The Connecticut Property Owners Alliance, Inc. is filing lawsuits against the city of New Britain in opposition to these two ordinances.

Please join concerned landlords, tenants, property owners and citizens of New Britain at the regularly scheduled Common Council meeting at New Britain City Hall on November 14th and ask the eleven alderman who voted for these ordinances, “Why?”. You can sign up to speak beginning at 6 p.m. or just show up to demonstrate solidarity with other concerned citizens.

Be sure to wear your REALTOR® pin. Become part of history and speak out against these unfair ordinances. CPOA expects to have the largest single turnout of residents in the city’s history show up to try to save New Britain from these bad policies. We are asking you to show up and help in this effort, if we stop this now it may deter other municipalities from establishing similar ordinances. For further information please call the CT Property Owners Alliance at 1–800-369-6153.
